Here are some tips to improve smoothness/more FPS ingame so your bullets will hit better. Some of these you'll probably already know.
/cg_drawfps 1
/com_maxfps (to adjust - max is 200)
You should really aim to have atleast 125fps stable because otherwise your performance will go down due to lag. Performance > how the game looks.
Some tips for outside of the game;
- Go to your Nvidia panel and adjust your graphics card to best performance.
- If you're on windows 7 try this; go to Control Panel / System and Security / Power Options. From here, click on the left-panel choice "Create a power option" and choose "High Performance". (if you're on a laptop make sure it is set to best performance)
- You can look if you cores are "parked" (locked by windows into safe power mode) and unpark them using this program;
www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility (for windows 7)
How to use:
1. Run .exe
2. Click "Check Status"
3.Click "Unpark All"
4. Restart PC
This isn't harmful to your PC at all, on windows 8 the CPU (processor) is already unparked by default.
- Close down any unnecessary programs you do not need that are running in the background. Look in Task Manager to manually close down or download a program like 'Enditall' or 'Razer Gamebooster'. These programs will close down programs running in the background that take up CPU performance and RAM.
- You can overclock your CPU or GPU. Don't do it if you have a laptop or don't know what you are doing, you can damage and break your PC. Search on google how you can do it safely if you're interested. I have slightly overclocked my CPU and GPU because my PC is really bad.
- Defrag your PC regularly. Don't defrag if you have a SSD.
- Use a program called CCleaner (you can download it for free) regularly to clean up unnecessary files that slow down your pc.
- Get a program called 'malwarebytes' and run it. Spyware/adware/trojans etc will slow down your pc.
There are some other things you can do outside of the game besides the ones I listed, if you still have low performance (below 125 fps stable) tell me and I will give some other things that might help.
Now in game;
- You can first play a bit with the settings like shadows and the other options under the same tab and watch if the settings you change affect your FPS. Remember, performance > how the game looks. Everything under settings is on low or off on my game except gore.
- You can lower your resolution.
- /r_lodbias 4 (default will be 0 or 1) this changes how your gun model looks. It will look ugly(but boost FPS), if you think it looks too ugly change it to /r_lodbias 2
- /r_picmip 4 then do /vid_restart for it to take affect. This will also make it look less good but boost FPS. To change it back if you don't like it do /r_picmip 1 or 0 (0 being the highest setting, 4 being the lowest. The same applies with the /r_lodbias command)
- When in game go to task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete for windows xp - Ctrl+Shift+Esc for Windows 7) go to sof2 > rightclick > priority > set to high. This isn't dangerous, this just makes the PC focus more on running sof2 optimally.
Remember this is only for bad PC's, if you have a good PC and atleast 125fps stable you shouldn't change your settings in game (it wouldn't hurt to do some of the things I mentioned outside of the game such as unparking your cores, settings your graphics card to best performance and setting your windows to best performance).
